January Markets at Milford AND Southsea

Happy New Year! And an exciting one for us. We’ve expanded and are now operating the Southsea Farmers’ Market on the 3rd Sunday of each month. There’s no market in Haslemere in January, so why not plan a visit to either Milford or Southsea this Sunday?

Chairmans Note

Happy 2026! A new and improved year for us all, one where we hope to see growth in Southwest Surrey Farmers’ Markets, bringing you new products and locations.

This month Southsea comes under our umbrella and we hope to bring it up to the vibrant and diverse market it once was. Although small, it has a loyal customer base and already features some of SWS favourite producers.

January can often be a quieter month on the markets as some of our producers take some well-earned time off, however, at Milford, we will bring you a range this Sunday. Please see our social media and website for who will be in attendance. Let’s hope for some slightly kinder weather than we have experienced over the last couple of weeks…

On the farm we’ve started ramping up for new arrivals, with three litters of pigs and more on the way. Our first lambs are expected in February and we are now at quite an intense time of looking after the sheep to make sure we meet all of their nutritional needs. It’s not much fun lugging kilos and kilos of food into the fields to be mugged by the equivalent of wet sponges!

Our emus have started family planning with the first eggs being laid in December, a strange time of year; they think it is the Australian summer. We wish it was!

The evenings are noticeably lighter and the dawn chorus has started so spring is certainly thinking about stirring.
