October Farmers’ Markets
Welcome to October! The nights are drawing in, the hedgerows are full, and if you haven’t already dusted off the slow cooker, now is the time. It’s one of the best months to visit a farmers’ market – the produce is rich, the variety is brilliant, and there’s something deeply satisfying about heading home with a bag full of ingredients for a proper autumnal meal.
As always, thank you for your continued support of our producers. It means more than you might think. We look forward to seeing you at one of our October markets.

Chairmans Note
Welcome to October!
The month of pumpkins, witches, and all things Hocus Pocus. The slightly colder mornings are with us; however, I’m still running around the farm in shorts and enjoying beautiful days. Every extra sunny day feels like a small bonus, keeping thoughts of the shortest day and winter at bay, even though, unfortunately, they’re just around the corner.
Now that we have got past the autumn equinox, nature is definitely responding; skeins of geese fill the sky every night, the hedges are bursting with fruit, and sheep and goat breeding on the farm is in full swing, ready for February lambs and goat kids.
Tomorrow we switch the rams to new groups, getting ready for our March lambs, which are generally the largest group, so lambing is quite intense here.
The pigs are loving life at the moment as we are working with cider producers, taking the apple pulp and using it for the animals; they are certainly smelling very fragrant at the moment!
We have seen a definite shift on our stall at the Farmer’s Markets with more emphasis on winter warmers and slow-cooked items, mutton and hogget being particular favourites.
With darker evenings, I’ll certainly have more time to be creative in the kitchen, and I’m looking forward to mixing and matching with other producers to come up with new recipes and potentially sausage flavours…
Thank you for your continued support. Summer has been tough on all of us, and we appreciate everybody who came out to Haslemere, Milford and Southsea.
Have a great month and happy eating and drinking.
