September Markets at Haslemere and Milford

Autumn months are here! Discover the best of Surrey’s local produce, from crisp apples to artisan treats, while supporting small businesses this September.

While we’ve had some welcome rain recently, Saturday is looking bright and sunny again for the market at Haslemere.

Chairmans Note

Welcome to Autumn, time to enjoy nature’s harvest!

We hope that you have had a great summer, whether you travelled or stayed at home. Weather-wise, it was certainly a summer to remember, and those of us with crops or livestock certainly had to work very hard to keep them cool and hydrated.

All around us, nature is getting ready for change. The migrant birds certainly know something’s up, and they’re assembling ready for departure. The hedgerows and fruit trees are laden this year. I’ve never seen anything quite like it, but that means it’s a super bounty for the pigs!

Many of our producers change some of their offerings along with the seasons, so keep your eyes peeled for these will certainly be moving into our colder weather cuts of meat and some winter warmer sausage flavours.

If you attended Milford Market in August, you would have been greeted with fresh pizzas courtesy of Nonna’s. These were wonderful, and they showcased some of the ingredients from our other producers which was great to see. We look forward to them being a regular feature.

This month, the award-winning Råg Nordic Bakery are back at Haselmere. So please join us in congratulating Caroline for her three stars for her superb crackers.

Regarding awards, Richard and his team at Butler Country Estates have been shortlisted as finalists with two of their smoked trout products in the Great British Taste Awards and we wish them every success with this. You’ll find Butler Country Estates at both Haslemere and Milford this month.
